Our Application Round for Winter Semester 2024/25 with start of studies in Cairo or Monastir is open now!

Deadline for online applications via uni-assist is July 15, 2024. This is a binding and excluding deadline. Classes are expected to start in presence mode in September 2024 in Cairo and Monastir. It is highly recommended that you apply prior to July 15, 2024, to have enough time to complete all necessary steps of visa-procedures for Egypt OR Tunisia.

    Graduation Requirements
    Prospective applicants for the REMENA master program are required to

    1. have successfully completed a bachelor's program or an equivalent degree in mathematics, computer science, natural sciences or engineering or to hold an equivalent degree with an average mark on an international scale, or
    2. have successfully completed a bachelor's program or an equivalent degree in law, business sciences/economics or social sciences with an average mark on an international scale and has successfully passed modules in the field of mathematics, natural or engineering sciences.

    Required Work Experience
    One year practical experience (internships, vocational education, professional work, and others) preferably in the energy sector.

    Language Requirements
    Evidence of very good knowledge of the English language to the level of B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages CEFR must be presented. This evidence is granted for applicants, if English is the mothertongue, or previous studies were completely conducted in English.

    Note, that Cairo University Graduate Studies Bylaws, Faculty of Engineering, 2018, clause (25) section (d), require proof of English proficiency TOEFL with minimal score 500 or equivalent IELTS score before registering Master thesis. Take this into consideration when opting for study mode double-degree Kassel - Cairo.


    Visa Requirements
    If you are accepted for the program, you have to organize different visa for your stay abroad. All people need a visa for the countries which are not their home country. The visa must cover the entire duration of the academic year and is a pre-condition for enrolment. 

     

    Requirements for Enrollment in Cairo
    Once admitted each student should submit the following documents:

    • B.Sc certificate certified and notarized by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs
    • birth certificate certified by the Egyptian embassy in the student home country or from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs
    • six passport photos (size 4x6 cm2)
    • medical report, indicating freedom from HIV infection
    • approval of the student home country embassy in Egypt of the student’s enrollment in the program
    • certified copy of student passport
    • registration forms of the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University, properly filled in
    • declaration that the student will stay in Egypt during the course of studies according to the master program.

    Financial Requirements
    To enroll to the master program the student has to pay

    • 10,000 Euro tuition fees and
      additional semester fees at the universities as follows:
    • around 150 - 200 Euro in Cairo/Monastir per year
    • around 340 Euro in Kassel per semester. This service fee must be paid for all semesters due to the fact that the students have to be permanently registered as students of the University of Kassel.

    Compile all required documents
    • Check out about the required documents:
      • certified copies of awarded academic degrees
      • certified copies of academic transcripts
      • certified copies of school leaving certificate
      • certified copies of job reference or attestation of employment related to renewable energies in English
      • proof of English proficiency: TOEFL or IELTS or proof of undergraduate studies conducted in English
      • hand-signed letter of motivation
      • 2 letters of recommendation (academic letter of recommendation/professional letter/s of recommendation)
      • hand-signed CV (please use the Europass specimen form at https://europa.eu/europass/en)

    •  Obtain officially certified copies of certificates and translations.
    • Make digital copies of the original documents and certificates.

    Deadlines for applications

    • January 15 for summer term, i.e. start of studies in March in Kassel
    • July 15 for winter term, i.e. start of studies in September in Cairo or in Monastir

    What happens next?
    • The application will first be formally examined: Have all documents been submitted? Are the formal requirements met?
    • Upon completion of the formal examination, the application is forwarded to the examination board of your chosen degree programme.
    • In the next step, the examination board checks whether the substantive requirements for admission are also met. The examination board decides on the equivalence of the subject matter, the acknowledgement of previous performance, it decides on admission and rejection and, if necessary, imposes conditions regarding content.
    • The examination board reports the result back to the Master's Office digitally.
    • Should it be discovered in the course of the procedure that documents are missing, the applicants will be informed of this by email. The email will state the deadline for submission.
    • It may take up to six weeks before you receive the result. Please refrain from making any enquiries during this period.

    Acceptance and Visa
    • I receive a positive reply from the University of Kassel by mail and e-mail.
      • If necessary, I have to submit additional documents.
    • Do I need a visa? If yes, I can apply for it with the positive decision at the German embassy or a German consulate in my home country. To apply for a visa, I need the positive decision of the University of Kassel, proof of financing my studies and proof of health insurance.

    Visa information

    1. Prospective students from EU member states, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland generally do not need an entry visa. An identity card is sufficient for entry.
    2. Prospective students from all other non-EU countries need a visa to enter the country. You should apply for this as early as possible at the German Embassy or a German Consulate in your home country or country of residence. If you are accompanied by your spouse or children during your stay, it is advisable to submit the applications for you and your family members at the same time - even if your family only enters a few weeks after you. Detailed information on obtaining a visa
    3. Prospective students from Australia, Israel, Japan, Canada, New Zealand, Republic of Korea and the USA do not require a visa for entry. For longer stays of more than three months, however, you need a residence permit. After entering Germany, you can apply for this at the respective aliens' registration office (Ausländerbehörde) in Germany.
